Jesse David Young | CAD Tech and Illustrator
Background.
I grew up in Enfield, CT where I began my creative pursuits singing for a metal band called Kind. I began studying illustration at Montserrat College of Art and finished my degree at the University of Hartford under the mentorship of Dennis Nolan, Bill Thomson, and Doug Andersen. My illustration career has led me to a variety of book and album covers, interior illustrations, logos, and concept art for digital and board games. While I hold tightly to my classical training, I have an aptitude for mixing traditional and digital mediums. I continue to take on art commissions specializing in sci-fi, fantasy, and horror genres. These days, I’ve been strong-armed by my wife to help with the family business drafting and creating architectural renderings. If you look closely, you might find cthulu lurking in a rendered site plan or elevation.
What I love about what I do.
I enjoy doing lots of different things—- from cerebral and technical to rote and monotonous. At TAMA, I can pivot from rendering elevations and site plans to checking shop drawings for discrepancies. Things need to stay interesting or I’m out! No issues here. Cat’s pretty demanding— plus I have to go home with her.
Outside of work.
You can find me counting macros, lifting heavy things, painting my girls in watercolor, playing personal chef for my wife, wrangling our animals, being a music snob, and getting lost in subreddits.
